TicketCat is a Ghanaian event ticketing platform operated by TicketCat. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use our mobile application.

By creating an account or purchasing a ticket, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

Information We Collect

a) Account Information

Full name

Phone number (normalized to +233XXXXXXXXX format)

Email address

Profile photo (optional)

b) Transaction Information

Tickets purchased, including event name, ticket type, and quantity

Payment method (MTN Mobile Money, Vodafone Cash, AirtelTigo Money, or card)

Payment amounts in Ghana Cedis (GHS)

Transaction timestamps and reference numbers

P2P marketplace activity — listings you create or purchase, including buyer and seller identifiers, asking price, and sale timestamp (retained for dispute resolution)

c) Device Information

Device push notification token (for sending you ticket confirmations and event alerts)

Device type and operating system (for app compatibility)

d) Usage Information

Events browsed and searched

Tickets scanned (for event entry verification)

App activity logs

How We Use Your Information

Information about you is used to:

Process ticket purchases and issue your tickets

Send you ticket confirmation via push notification, in-app message, or SMS

Verify your identity at event entry via QR code scan

Send you critical event updates (cancellations, reschedulements, venue changes) via SMS or push notification

Deliver blast messages from event organizers to ticket holders of their events (all messages are reviewed by TicketCat before delivery)

Prevent fraud and ensure platform security

Comply with applicable Ghanaian laws and Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) requirements

Payment Processing

All payments are processed securely through Paystack. TicketCat does not store your full card or mobile money credentials. Payment data is handled in accordance with Paystack's Privacy Policy.

Ticket prices and fees are denominated in Ghana Cedis (GHS). A service fee is applied to each ticket purchase; this fee is displayed before you confirm payment.

SMS and Push Notifications

We use Arkesel (a Ghana-based SMS provider) to send you critical messages such as:

Ticket purchase confirmations

Event cancellation or reschedulement alerts

One-time passwords (OTPs) for verification

Blast messages from event organizers to their ticket holders

Push notifications are sent via Expo Push Notification Service. You may disable push notifications in your device settings at any time; however, disabling them may mean you miss important event updates.

Organizers may send short announcement messages (up to 120 characters) to all ticket holders for their events via TicketCat's blast feature. All blast messages are reviewed by TicketCat before delivery.

Ticket Transfers and P2P Marketplace

Ticket transfers and P2P marketplace transactions are processed securely on our servers. Transfer and sale history — including buyer identity, seller identity, sale price, and timestamps — is maintained for fraud prevention and dispute resolution. The original buyer's identity is retained in our records even after a transfer or resale.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share your data only with:

Paystack (payment processing)

Arkesel (SMS delivery)

Expo (push notifications)

Resend (transactional email)

Event organizers — limited to attendee list data for events you have purchased tickets to

Law enforcement or regulatory bodies, when required by Ghanaian law

8.

Data Retention

We retain your account and transaction data for a minimum of 5 years to comply with Ghanaian financial recordkeeping requirements. You may request deletion of your account; however, transaction records may be retained as required by law.

9.

Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS), Row-Level Security (RLS) on our database, and server-side-only processing for sensitive operations such as ticket transfers and payments.

10.

Children's Privacy

TicketCat is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you

Request correction of inaccurate data

Request deletion of your account (subject to legal retention requirements)

Opt out of marketing communications

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via push notification or in-app message. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
